Welcome to the Department of General Management; University of Dar es Salaam Business School (UDBS). General Management is one of the four teaching departments of the Business School, which was formerly the Faculty of Commerce and Management. The department offers courses and degree programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At the undergraduate level, specializations offered include Management Science, Human Resource and General Management.
Starting from 2009/2010 academic year, the Human Resource specialization has changed to a full fledged degree program. The postgraduate program offered by the department, leads to the awards of masters and PhD in areas of Information Systems Management, General Business Management and Human Resources Management.

ACADEMIC STAFF AND SPECIALIZATIONS
The department of General Management is well equipped with members of academic staff with wide range of professions including among others, Human resource management; Information systems management; Logistics operations and management; General business management; Project management, monitoring and evaluation; Leadership and management development; Research methods; and Inventory management and control.
The department has 23 academic members of staff, among which 5 are holders of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), three are Licentiate and the rest are at different stages of their doctorate studies.
Besides teaching, academic members of staff involve in research and consultancy. The department is in the process of launching a short course on “Strategic Management and Leadership in Public Institutions”, and two research programs; one on “Labour Mobility/Migration Among Public, Private and Parastatal Organizations” and the other on “Poverty and Change Management”.
