The Accounting Careers Contact [ACC] is an ICT mediated contact point which handles placement of graduating as well as continuing students throughout the year. The Accounting Careers Contact offers advice, guidance and information to all students undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate courses. After graduation the ACC will continue to provide support, in particular to those who have graduated within the last three years. ACC services include:
o Individual Careers Guidance

o Interview Preparation
o Job Seeking Skills Mini-workshops; and
o Online Vacancy and Events Notices for Part-time, Vacation and Graduate jobs.

A key feature of our Accounting programme is the inclusion of a period of industrial placement, otherwise known as Practical Training. This ranges from 6 to 8 weeks. A placement means that a student gets an opportunity for 'real world' experience in a 'proper job'. There are many advantages that accrue as a result of spending this time in a work environment, especially in relation to the level of experience and personal development for our students. The placement has also proven invaluable in helping our graduates secure employment after completion of their studies. In this respect the Department always encourages contacts in practice and industry to which the Department can place its students for industrial experience.
